Apple Inc’s (AAPL) SIM-free 4-inch iPhone SE stocks-out in US

26 Feb 2019

Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) may not have expected such a demand from the consumers over its recently released budget-friendly 4-inch iPhone SE. The SIM-free version of this phone is already sold out on Apple’s US website with the earliest shipping dates shown as April-end.

However, experts claim that the company might have released a limited number of iPhone SE to the market, and that is what the reason behind the stock-outs so early, to create some buzz in the market. Recently, Apple analyst from KGI Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted that Apple Inc will not recover from the falling iPhone sales in 2016, despite launching the low-cost smaller iPhone. Kuo estimated that Apple Inc will fall short of 200 million iPhone sales in this year.

As of today, the quickest an iPhone SE will arrive in the U.S. is April 12, but not all models will arrive on this date. Apple iPhone SE with limited memory of 16GB will arrive quickly, than the 64GB iPhone. Many variants will arrive after April 20, that too by paying the extra shipping cost for expedited shipping.

The situation is same at Apple Inc’s retail stores – almost all models for all carriers are out of stock already. If you want to buy a new iPhone SE now, there is a chance that you will get the $399 iPhone SE with 16GB storage faster than the $499 tagged 64GB device. Even the rose gold variant of iPhone SE has the same fate. The shipping date also depends on the carrier you choose – Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile or SIM-free. Meanwhile, only Sprint’s 64GB rose gold iPhone SE is being shipped on April 12 with free shipping.

The demand for new iPhone SE is more than the supply in the international markets as well. In Hong Kong, the fastest a new phone will arrive is April 16. This time, Apple has targeted the emerging and large markets like India, China and Brazil by launching the pocket-friendly iPhone. Not to forget, the company has once failed drastically with its pocket-friendly iPhone 5c.

It looks like, the iPad-era is fading away. It’s a completely different story for the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro – almost all models with all variants are available at Apple retail stores as well as online stores.
