Android Marshmallow out for HTC One M9, LG G3 and Xiaomi Mi4 devices

25 Feb 2019

Android Marshmallow or Android 6.0, the latest version of Android has begun to roll out to other devices like Sony, HTC, Samsung, LG and Motorola, after it arrived on Google’s own Nexus series. The rumored release date of the update for Samsung devices on carriers such as Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and US Cellular has been revealed.

This week, HTC has decided to release Android 6.0 Marshmallow to 2014 flagship device HTC One M8 and 2015 flagship HTC One M9. Last week, some HTC One M8 users received the update, and it is being reported that HTC has begun releasing the latest update to Canadian HTC One M9 devices. Carriers such as the Rogers, Sasktel, Wind Mobiel and Videotron have released the over-the-air update to M9 devices, but Bell, Telus and other carriers will have to wait a little longer.

For HTC One M9 devices, the new system will feature improved power management system with Doze plus that can shut down inactive applications. Other features include Google Now on Tap, improved control of applications permissions and “generic performance and bug fixes.”

According to XTECH LEAKS, Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 will be the first to receive the Android M update, followed by Galaxy S5, S6 and S6 Edge. Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge would receive the update around March to April. The update will then be released to Samsung devices such as Samsung Galaxy A8, A7, A5, A3 and E5. Samsung tablets: Galaxy Tab S2 8.0, Tab S2 9.7, Galaxy Alpha and Galaxy A, will also receive the update. The rollout of the latest Android update also depends on US carriers; but major carriers like AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and US Cellular are known to release the update before other carriers. Samsung devices older than Galaxy S4 will not be receiving the update.

LG G3 users are already reporting on Reddit about the OTA update of Android M. Verizon-branded LG G3, LG G3 D855 model and F400L/K/S models will be receiving the update in the coming days. After making its way to Xiaomi Note, the Marshmallow update is being rolled out to Mi 4 flagship devices. Xiaomi Mi 4 devices are directly updated to Android 6.0.1 with build number MMB29M.
