To regain its lost charm, BlackBerry is trying hard to reach as much as consumers when selling its recently launched BlackBerry PRIV Android smartphone. Starting today, the device will be available in Australia through Optus.

In January 2016, BlackBerry has launched the PRIV smartphone in the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, India and France, while the Vodafone UK has also got its smartphone. In the North America, AT&T, TELUS, Rogers, Bell had already launched the device, but T-Mobile has got the PRIV on January 26th. Verizon is scheduled to sell BlackBerry PRIV handsets from March onwards, Sprint has also confirmed to launch the device soon.

Meanwhile, BlackBerry urges its fans, especially business-class consumers, to opt-in for the firm’s first secure Android smartphone for productivity, flexibility and security by contacting the account managers. This device is available for outright buy as well as with a variety of post-paid plans for business consumers as well.

The premium (and premiumly priced) smartphone has a 5.4-inch dual-curved display with impressive 540ppi density, 18 megapixel dual-flash camera with OIS, a 64-bit Qualcomm 8992 Snapdragon 808 Hexa-Core processor with 600MHz Adreno 418 GPU, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, a swappable MicroSD card slot to expand storage space up to 2TB, 3410mAh non-removable Lithium Ion battery with 23 hours of talktime, 2MP front camera, and loads of BlackBerry applications.

Although the PRIV smartphone comes with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware, the company has said that it will release the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow for PRIV in early-2016. However, the company hasn’t revealed any plans so far, and expected to release the rollout plan in the first quarter. That means, the actual firmware rollout might take a few more months to reach to the handsets.
