Overwatch and esports are all set to work together for a new mainstream venture. Both are planning to set up Overwatch Open on live television. TBS is supposed to be delivering the live stream of the Overwatch open to approximately 90 million homes all spread across the United States. Overwatch was recently released in May and has turned out to be one of the biggest hits of the year. Blizzards latest hit team based shooting game was launched for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and computers.

Overwatch Open is set to have prize purse money of $300,000. According to the reports, the competition is scheduled to start on July 23. The initial stages will include the online rounds for teams from Europe and North America. The finals will be live streamed on TBS and Twitch on 30th September. The winners will earn whooping prize money of $100,000.

According to a statement by Nate Nazer, Overwatch Global esports director, “We’ve been impressed with what Turner and WME-IMG and FaceIt have accomplished with Eleague, and are excited about seeing Overwatch on the Eleague stage. The Overwatch Open will be a great opportunity to introduce the TBS and online audiences to the Overwatch players who are competing at the highest level in North America and Europe.”

Eleague also launched a tournament for Counter Strike: Global Offensive this May. Counter Strike and Overwatch are hit games of two genres. Counter Strike is manly bounty based, while in Overwatch you have heroes to handle and team up with.

Craig Barry, Executive VP and Chief Content Officer of Turner Sports said in a statement, “This opportunity to feature Blizzard’s popular Overwatch further expands our esports offerings and aligns Eleague with a game that is widely embraced by the community. We look forward to bringing the same level of production and storytelling capabilities we’ve demonstrated throughout the first season of Eleague to this championship event.”
