Mi Flash Unlock: How to Unlock Bootloader of Redmi Note 3, Mi 4c and Mi Note Pro

Nowadays, Xiaomi Mobiles comes with locked bootloader, which prevent us to root the device. Most of the popular devices such as Redmi Note 3, Xiaomi Mi4c, Mi Note Pro and Mi5 has looked bootloader, which needs to be unlocked before rooting the device. If you want to install custom ROM in any of those devices, you need to unlock the bootloader, as a primary step to proceed with. 

In this post, I described how to unlock the bootloader using Xiaomi Mi Flash Unlock Tool Application. Using one’s Mi account, one can download the application, which is totally available for free. The entire process seems to be very simple, but take full backup of your mobile phone, before proceeding.

If you don’t have MI account, open MI account right from your mobile phone and create or register a new MI account.

After the successful creation of MI account, download Flash Unlock Tool from the link, and extract the downloaded application on your local machine.

Now, navigate to the extracted folder and run the file (named “MiFlashUnlock.exe”) and log in with the MI Credentials.

Once you have logged in, for the first time, you will get a message as “You don’t have the permission to Unlock the device”. Don’t get panicked, click “Go” button on the screen to proceed with unlocking  permission. (Else, visit here to unlock permission) 

Now, Click “Unlock” button. It will ask for MI credentials and provide the proper input for unlocking. Once done, You will get an OTP to the registered mobile number and input the OTP on the Unlocking Screen page. After that, run the tool on your personal computer, and you will obtain the permission to unlock the device. Happy Unlocking !!!
