26 Feb 2019

June was the month of killer flagship phones released, one of which was OnePlus 3. Is it worth the money, which also provides tremendous features as its predecessor or better than that? We have put together the specifications and mobile experience of OnePlus devices and compared the potential differences between the same.

Design
The OnePlus 3 features an all anodized aluminium body with rounded edges which weigh 158 grams and measures 152.7 x 74.7 x 7.35mm. This one is slimmer and taller than the OnePlus 2.

The OnePlus 2, on the other hand, features a sandstone back, offering 4 different colors in availability. It has a fingerprint sensor board, with USB-Type C charging port. Weighs 175 g and measures 151.8 x 74.9 x 9.85mm.

The OnePlus X is available in three colors namely Onyx, Ceramic and  Champagne with Ceramic weighing 160g and Onyx weighing 138g, all three measuring 140 x 69 x 6.9mm. The display quality is a bit less than the other two devices with glass and metal finish.

Display
The OnePlus 3 comes with a 5.5 inch display with 1080p resolution, 441 ppi which is a slightly higher pixel density offers the perfect blend of crispiness. The AMOLED display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

The OnePlus 2 device offers a 5.5 inch display, same as OnePlus 3 but only with 401 per pixel density, which is ample for the budget, it is coming in with, a decent contrast and brightness with an IPS LCD display.

The OnePlus X however, offers only a 5 inch screen OLED display instead of LCD, but the pixel density is identical to the OnePlus 3 and the screen resolution which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Hardware
The OnePlus X, for less money, gives powerful hardware. Comes only in 16GB variant, but with storage expansion upto 128 GB of MicroSD support with dual nano SIM slots. The battery capacity, 2525mAh is however low with 3GB of RAM and Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor.

The OnePlus 2 comes in two storage variants, 32GB and 64GB with Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and the battery capacity of 3300 mAh. Prevents overheating, responds smoothly to our fast processes. Has two types of RAM supports, 3GB or 4GB.

The OnePlus 3 features Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with a massive 6GB RAM, dual-nano SIM slot, and 64 GB internal memory with no external storage expansion option. The battery capacity is smaller than the OnePlus 2, 3000mAh but with its DashCharge option, when you run out of juice, you can get a top up without any stuttering.

Camera
The OnePlus X has a decent camera on the 13-MP rear and 8-MP front snapper. The rear gets an aperture of f/2.2. Tops at the 1080p video recording, but shows slow motion recording at 720p.

The OnePlus 2 however, does a sterling job by offering a 13-MP rear camera with a f/2.0 aperture. The front snapper is just 5-MP with a 0.2-second autofocus and an optical image stabilization.

The OnePlus 3 offers a 16-MP rear camera with an aperture of f/2.0 which also has PDAF autofocus and OIS. It also gives us a 8-MP front camera, a sensor with 1.4um pixels, the RAW image support, auto HDR, manual control, Dynamic Denoise and Clear Image features on board. Overall, the OnePlus 3 produces some insanely attractive shots when focus is acquired.

Software
All the OnePlus devices except the OnePlus 3 carry a little bit modified version of Android called Oxygen OS, which is just a customization of features that is built on top of Android Lollipop. The OnePlus 3 runs on Android 6.1 Marshmallow version with the same Oxygen OS.

Price
When they launched their very first smart phone, people had to buy through the invite system, but now the devices are available to everyone through online. Amazon prices OnePlus 3 64Gb version from $478, OnePlus 2 from $299 and OnePlus X from $289.99

Conclusion
It is no mystery that the successor phones improved the phone models so far better than the previous ones and that’s what OnePlus has also done. The OnePlus 3 stands as the best among the other better two in terms of battery, display, camera and in power advancements. But overall, you can vouch that the OnePlus 3 is the best device of OnePlus yet.
