Android 6.0 Marshmallow, iOS 9: 3 common points

25 Feb 2019

Various devices have been receiving updates for Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The recent list of devices includes Samsung Galaxy S5, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+, Note 5, etc. On the other hand, iOS 9 is available on most of the Apple devices. As it happens, both the Operating systems have some great features, while a few which can be taken into consideration as not such a great thing. Let us take a look at the sections where Android 6.0 Marshmallow and iOS 9, compete with each other at the highest levels.

Design

If you talk about the design of the home screen, there have not been any significant changes for both Android Marshmallow and iOS 9, compared to their predecessors. The home screen comes with all the features that we have already experienced in the past. But Android 6.0 Marshmallow certainly beats iOS 9, when it comes to customization. In fact, Android has always been a step ahead of iOS in this regard. On the other hand, iOS 9 has a way simpler background process, compared to Marshmallow, which makes it slightly faster.

The Assistants

This is where I was actually expecting some serious changes. iOS 9 has an improved Siri and an intelligent Proactive screen. The proactive screen allows you to get your most commonly used applications under one roof. With Android, Marshmallow comes with the advanced Google Now with a Tap that allows the assistant to understand the context of your query and provide solutions in that regard. Google Now has always been one step ahead of Siri with precision and user base and it will possibly stay the same.

Battery Life

Battery Life is basically directly dependent on two major things: Size of the battery and the operating system on use. Both Google and Apple have worked hard to get a better battery life for their devices. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes with a new Doze application, which expectedly will save a lot more power. On the other hand, iOS 9 has a new ‘Low Power Mode’ that will help to extend the battery life.
