Facebook introduces new purple flower emoji for Mothers Day

20 Feb 2019

Facebook just like always is in the pick of things with its recent addition of the purple flowers on the occasion of Mothers Day. Well, the purple flower in the reaction section for the Mothers Day is something that I was not looking forward to, but nevertheless. The other thing about the newly introduced purple flower emoji is that only certain people in certain parts of the world will be able to use it and that too for a limited period of time.

According to a statement released by Facebook, “To celebrate Mothers Day, we are testing the ability for people in a few markets to leave a flower reaction.” The social networking giant has not released the names of the regions where people will be able to use the emoji. Facebook has neither clearly told us about the time period for which the emoji will be available. This is a test and they must have set a required passing criterion for it. And if it does, there are no gifts for guessing what will be happening to the cute little purple flower.

In fact, the addition of the reactions section is even not that old. Facebook added reactions along with ‘Like’ sometime in February this year and there is no doubt about the fact that quite a few people have loved it.

The purple flower is something that has been done by Facebook for the first time. In the past we have seen changes that have been introduced for testing and on passing they stayed on forever. The ones that failed were scrapped off. Some people believe that the event based purple flower could just be the beginning of event based emojis on Facebook. Facebook already has event based posting methods, were in you can start a post on the basis of the event that is occurring.

Thus, for people who are living far from their mother and are stuck into something and could not meet them today, you can always share the purple flower with them. But still, if you find time do make a call to your mom today. On that note, “Happy Mothers Day” to all the moms across the world!
