Starbucks and McDonald’s ban porn from their public wifi systems

26 Feb 2019

Call it good news or call it bad news, No more porn at a McDonald’s or Starbucks outlet. According to recent reports, Starbucks and McDonalds are applying anti porn filters to ban porn on their public wifi. The recent actions are probably the effect of the recent actions of the anti porn activists, who have been calling for ban porn for quite some time now.

According to a statement by Starbucks, “Once we determine that our customers can access our free Wi-Fi in a way that also doesn’t involuntarily block unintended content, we will implement this in our stores, In the meantime, we reserve the right to stop any behavior that interferes with our customer experience, including what is accessed on our free Wi-Fi.”

The fact that McDonalds and Starbucks have agreed to ban porn, block porn related sites and x rated sites from their public wifi might just have quite some impact of the customers that come in. In fact, some reports suggests that these public wifi’s have been used to download porn and sexually explicit content as well.

The anti porn activists all over the world seem to be quite happy with the step that these two big fast food brands have taken. Considering that many public wifi systems all across the United States are still used to download porn and sexually implicit content, this is quite a big step. In altogether, McDonalds and Starbucks have more that 21000 outlets all across the United States of America and literally 80% of them provide free public wifi to the people.

Some people believe that this could be the beginning of the era where the government will be able to curb down the numbers of porn download. More such big brands offering public wifi should come up and ban porn on their public wifi systems. This would certainly be a good start for sure.
