Rumors state tests for SMS via Facebook Messenger as well as support for multiple accounts

Facebook Messenger might just be gearing up for an update, or let us say a roll back. If the reports are true, the users might just be able to send and receive text messages for free using the Facebook Messenger.

The reports come in stating that Facebook is probably testing out a baked in SMS feature that will allow the users to send and receive text messages for free using the messenger application. Although, there is still no solid proof correlating to the reports, but if this roll out happens, Facebook Messenger application might just be set to give its competitors a very hard time. The fact that you can manage your text messages using the world’s most preferred social networking site’s messaging application is quite interesting in itself.

Facebook said in a statement, “At Messenger we are always trying to create new ways for people to communicate seamlessly with everyone”.
The email also stated about the efforts that Facebook is putting in to make Facebook Messenger the ultimate social messaging solution. The efforts are to bring in SMS and messaging under one roof. If we think it otherwise, Facebook will be offering us the old school text messaging with all the advanced features of the messenger application.

In the initial days, the feature was available with Facebook Messenger application. The feature was pretty much similar to the kind of service that Google’s Hangout provides currently. The feature was pulled off in the year 2013, due to the lack of users at that point of time.

The rumors also have it that Facebook is also testing out support for multiple accounts. Many users have multiple pages that they use for various purposes. Messenger is expected to bring all the messages under one roof, allowing a much better hold on the pages that the users manage.
