Tampa Music Scene Gets A Boost From Popular Tours This Week

19 Feb 2019

The Tampa music scene will be heating up this week as several popular tours come to town. Kelly Clarkson brings her Piece By Piece tour to town and various rock groups, including Val Halen, will be performing around the city. Tickets for these tours can be purchased through Ticketmaster or from the box office of the venue holding the event.

The band Tremonti is appearing at the Ritz Ybor in Tampa on Saturday, September 12 with Orlando metal band Trivium and a Detroit band called Wilson. Mark Tremonti and his bandmates — drummer Garrett Whitlock, guitarist Eric Friedman, and tour bassist Tanner Keegan — are touring to promote their latest album, “Cauterize.” Tremonti was also the guitarist of Creed and Alter Bridge.

Their usual bassist will not be touring with them because his other band, Van Halen, is touring at the same time. The bassist, Wolfgang Van Halen, will be appearing on Sunday, September 13 at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa with his dad and his uncle Alex. It’s a coincidence that the two tours will be gracing the Tampa music scene on the same weekend.

Pop megastar Kelly Clarkson will be performing her “Piece by Piece” tour at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa on Tuesday, September 15 at 7pm. Clarkson was the winner of the first season of hit show American Idol. Clarkson’s live shows are known for embracing the unexpected, including unannounced cover songs and accepting tweeted requests from audience members.

Three acts will be opening for Clarkson’s Tampa concert. Pentatonix first gained fame as a great a cappella group on another television talent show, “The Sing-Off.” They will be performing along with up-and-coming singer-songwriter Eric Hutchinson and country singer Abi Ann, who recently toured with Jesse McCartney.
