T-Mobile begins rolling out one more Android firmware update to Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy Note 4 smartphones. If you are thinking about the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, you are wrong. T-Mobile users are now receiving Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software update.

The new firmware update will bring the much awaited T-Mobile video calling feature as well as Advanced Messaging. Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 have already received the T-Mobile Video Calling feature in September. The company had promised about the same update to remaining high-end devices as well, and it finally keeps the promise and started delivering.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (N910) and Note Edge (N915) were launched at September 2014’s IFA event, which comes with Android 4.4 KitKat software pre-installed. Now, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update being rolled out, it looks like the Marshmallow update is still far away.

According to the T-Mobile support page, once you update the Note Edge, your software version will move to N915TUVU2COK2, and Samsung Galaxy Note 4’s software version will be N910TUVU2DOK2 or N910T3UVU1DOK2, depending upon the current Baseband version. This firmware update is also said to bring some security updates, enhanced performance and improvements in battery life.

There are two methods through which you can update your devices – manual download and updating through Samsung PC sync software Kies. Samsung Galaxy Note Edge’s update package’s size is 150MB, while Note 4’s update package comes in 2 different versions – N910TUVU2DOK2 in 677.68MB file and N910T3UVU1DOK2 in 223.28MB file.
