Windows 10 update for phones delayed

25 Feb 2019

Akin to Android and iOS, Windows phone is trying for latest firmware update. It’s been a long, we haven’t seen any major update from Microsoft. According to the latest report, for those who are in Windows 8.1 need to wait a few more days.

Back in October, Microsoft planned to unlock Windows 10 phone upgrade in the mid-December. They even listed some devices that come under Windows 10 update.

Microsoft spokesperson says, “The Windows 10 Mobile upgrade will begin rolling out early next year to select existing Windows 8 and 8.1 phones,”

To take part in the Windows 10 update, your phone should carry a Lumia denim update and more than 8GB internal storage. The list includes Lumia 640, Lumia 635, Lumia 535, Lumia 532, Lumia 430, Lumia 540, Lumia 435, Lumia 930, Lumia 830, Lumia 640 XL and Lumia 735.

Unfortunately, Microsoft changed their mind and won’t release Windows 10 update until 2016. They haven’t specified any reason in twitter or official news blog. Anyhow, Let’s calm down and wait for a couple of weeks. If you look back in history, Microsoft unlocked their first Windows 8.1 update on mid-November. It was also a promised upgrade from Microsoft. Sooner or Later, we are going to get Windows 10 OS on mobile phones.

As we all know, Microsoft’s Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL are the first devices to get Windows 10 mobile operating system. Later on, they continuously rolled out a minor update to fix bug issues. While other phone lined up for latest updates, the company took down Windows 10 package for some reason.

According to ZDNet,

“This November we introduced Windows 10 to phones including brand new features such as Continuum and Universal Windows Apps with the introduction of the Lumia 950 and 950 XL. The Windows 10 Mobile upgrade will begin rolling out early next year to select existing Windows 8 and 8.1 phones.”
