Root Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge (Exynos) [How-To]

Samsung has released its flagship model few weeks back and similar to another model, people are currently searching that how to unlock and root Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. In this post, I have shared the ways to root Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (Exynos version). 

Snapdragon 820 version of Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge comes with an unpleasant surprise for us, in the form of a locked version of bootloader. This gives us a hard time, if we want to unlock the device or in case of creating a recovery mod for the device. In that case, they need to wait until the release of Android N, and it is not in the hands of users to optimize battery life, and also to remove unwanted stock applications from the device by rooting it.

Exynos powered models come with no restriction and easily allows the users to root the device. Here are the steps to root Samsung S7 and Samsung S7 Edge (Exynos).

Steps to be followed before proceeding for rooting process:

Backup all data: Before proceeding into the process, you need to backup all of your data to be in a safer side. After rooting your device, you can re-initiate the same data in your device.

Keep your battery level more than 80%: If you want to root without any hassle, it is strongly advised to keep your battery level more than 80 percent.

Now, navigate to Settings-> tap build number 5 times to enable the Developer options in the device.

Once it enabled, navigate into it and enable “OEM Unlock”

Download Samsung Odin from the below link and also download auto-root file from Chainfire from below links

Download Chainfire’s auto-root file for the Galaxy S7

Download Chainfire’s auto-root file for the Galaxy S7 edge

Unzip the auto-root downloaded files and check for “.tar.md5” files are there.

Install Odin in your personal computer, so that the device will be detected with the help of Odin drivers.

Now, boot download mode from your device by booting the device by holding Home, Power Down and Volume Down button for few seconds.

Check whether the phone is showing in added list in Odin, when you’re connected the device to your computer.

Now, select AP button in Odin and choose .tar.md5 extension file.

Once done, click “Start”.

That’s all. In the meanwhile, the device will restart a few times and after that your device will be rooted.
