Product Synopsis

The report presents actual information about the beef market in Russia and its state as of January 2013.

The purpose of the report is to describe the state of the Russian beef market, to present actual information about the volumes of production, exports, imports, consumption and the state of the market, the changes that took place in 2012, and also, to build a forecast for the development of the industry in the medium term until 2017.

A significant factor in the development of the beef market in Russia, is the reduced number of cattle in Russia. Thus, during the 2000 – 2011, the number of cattle decreased annually. The cumulative reduction in the number of cattle in the period 2000 - 2011 was 27%.

The Russian beef market consists mainly of domestic production. The share of imports tends to decrease.

The production of beef has a low level of concentration. In 2012, the share of the largest producer accounted for less than 5%. The largest volume of beef in 2012 was produced in the Siberian Federal District. In second place came the Central Federal District. The combined share of these two Districts accounts for over 50%.
