Product Synopsis

The purpose of the report is to describe the state of the Russian cast iron market, to present actual information about the volumes of production, exports, imports, consumption and the state of the market, the changes that took place in 2012, and also, to build a forecast for the development of the industry in the medium term until 2017.

Russia - the largest manufacturer and supplier of cast iron at a global level. Cast iron production in Russia in 2012 again reached the level of 50 million tons, from which 10 million tons were exported. In the domestic market, iron is produced mainly for the needs of the steel industry.

The four largest companies (OJSC ""NLMK"", OJSC ""MMK"", OJSC ""Severstal"", and OJSC ""Evraz ZSMK”) account for over 70% of the production of cast iron in Russia. The first eight companies in terms of physical production account for 97% of the total production of cast iron in Russia.

Currently, the metallurgical industry in Russia continues its consolidation. It is characterized by integration of a complete production cycle within the companies in order to increase competitiveness and reduce costs amid rising costs of coke and iron ore.
