Florida Governor Rick Scott has proudly announced the addition of 84 new jobs at Tampa Tank and Florida Structural Steel in the Port Redwing area. The announcement was made as the governor and his entourage surveyed the 25-acre site with Tampa Tank CEO David Hale on Tuesday.
People who own condominiums in Tampa Bay’s Signature Place have been hit with an $8.7 million special assessment fee. As the tallest but also newest condo tower in the city, the assessment is meant to repair serious and urgent defects in construction that puts both residents and pedestrians in danger.
Two 75-story towers have been proposed for Port Tampa Bay’s plan for the Channel District area. A rendering of the $1.5 billion project was released last week. The proposed towers are slim to avoid blocking other buildings’ views of the port. Each tower was designed with six units per floor, totaling 450 units. The units will average about 1,450 square feet each.

Tampa Bay Lighting owner and downtown Tampa developer officially gets the Channelside District redevelopment plan underway with the closure of Channelside Drive starting at South Jefferson Street so the City of Tampa can install some infrastructure in August. The roadway is expected to be closed to traffic for about eight weeks.
